HEATHER DEAN
DVM
Co-Medical Director
Dr. Heather Dean is a seasoned veterinarian born and raised in Los Angeles. Raised by her single mother, Dr. Dean discovered her passion for veterinary care amidst a diverse collection of pets that filled her home growing up. Her academic journey led her to UC Davis, where she earned an undergraduate degree with a double major in Animal Science and Management, complemented by minors in Film Studies and Global and International Relations. Driven by her dedication to veterinary care, she pursued her veterinary degree at Michigan State College for Veterinary Medicine.
Post-veterinary school, Dr. Dean embarked on a dynamic career, starting with a rotating internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington DC. This experience honed her skills in emergency medicine and exposed her to a diverse range of specialty cases. Building on this foundation, she further specialized through a primary care internship, focusing on diagnostic imaging and behavior medicine.
Currently residing in Lomita with her family and four cherished rescues—Baron, a German Shepherd; Monsoon, a Pit Bull mix; and Chloe and Roscoe, two domestic short-haired cats. Dr. Dean brings her wealth of experience and compassion to our practice. Beyond her veterinary expertise, she finds joy in travel, reading, movies, and the art of crafting stained glass. Dr. Dean looks forward to meeting you and your four-legged family member.
